The City of Spokane’s motto really says it all ‘Near Nature, Near Perfect’ and it’s why I like to call the Spokane area home. You can literally walk out just about any door and in no more than 10 minutes be enveloped by nature.

Spokane Opera House
Here we are situated in a Metropolitan area that is the the second largest city in the State of Washington with cultural and concert activities afforded us by the Spokane Symphony, INB Performing Arts Center (formerly known as the Spokane Opera House), Spokane Civic Theatre and wonderful venues like the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox , The Knitting Factory and Spokane Arena just to name a few.

Fountain at Riverfront Park
The City of Spokane manages 87 Parks that encompass 4,100 acres. The initial parks plan was drawn up by the legendary Olmsted Brothers, Landscape Architects, of New York’s Central Park fame. With our gem being ‘Riverfront Park’ a lasting reminder of our hosting of the’1974 Worlds Fair’, which continues to draw families in mass on a daily basis to partake in the activities afforded there. I think we can find one for you.

CdA Golf Course
I haven’t verified this as fact, but Spokane just may be the golf Mecca of the world.
Both the City Spokane and Spokane County offer some great public courses. You can find it all here; Par 3’s, Public, Private Country Club, Municipal, to World Class Tournament rated courses to everthing in between.
Here are a few of the best links I’ve found to get you exposed to all of our wonderful courses around Spokane and I haven’t even gotten to the Canadian courses.

SNOW: Crosscountry/Nordic, Downhill, SnowBoarding, Snowshoeing or Snowmobiling
Did someone say snow anyone? Spokane area mountains offer acres and acres of snow sport opportunities.
Are you a Downhiller or Snowboarder? The Spokane area offers 5 different mountains as close as 45 minutes to less than 2 hours away. Whether you’re a family or destination resort oriented, we’ve got your hill… try Mt Spokane, 49 Degrees North, in Idaho we have Schweitzer & Silver Mtn and on the Idaha-Montana border there is Lookout Pass. If that’s not enough options how about these located in Montana, Idaho or how about friends to the North in Canada. Check out British Columbia & Alberta ski resorts.
Looking for snowmobiling trails I think we have a few trails you just might like. Maybe Snowshoeing or XC/Nordic is more your speed. The Spokesman-Review (our local newspaper) had a great article identifying our areas Showshoeing Trails or try this Nordic Trails link.
Any way you like to enjoy your Winter Sports, you want to make sure whether or not you will need a Sno-Park Permit
